Mahela Jayawardene has become the 14th Sri Lankan to be awarded Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Honorary Life Membership, joining former teammates Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas on the list.
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Wednesday awarded former Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene with its Honorary Life Membership.
In his 18-year successful cricketing career, Jayawardene played 149 Test matches and scored 11,814 runs at an average of 49.84.
He played his final game at Lord’s in 2014 against England, which ended in a draw. Jayawardene is currently working as a batting consultant with the England team.
