It was a big event for over 3,000 athletes who competed at the annual Sir John Tarbet School’s athletics meet, held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa stadium in Biyagama last week. For the first time, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd’s (CBL) confectionary brand Ritzbury, joined hands with the Sri Lanka Athletics Association to sponsor the meet which featured 82 events and saw 17 new records being made.
Ritzbury’s Assistant Marketing Manager Nilupul De Silva said that the sponsorship underscored Ritzbury’s commitment to children and sports and congratulated the organisers, stating, “The annual John Tarbet athletics event has played a major role in identifying budding Sri Lankan athletes from schools across the country.”
Tipped as Sri Lanka’s best prospect for identifying athletic stars, the Sir John Tarbet meet is now in its 82nd year and has seen some of Sri Lanka’s sporting personalities come up through the ranks of this school’s meet.
Nadeeja Karunatilleke, Ritzbury’s General Manager Marketing said that Ritzbury remains committed to supporting young talent throughout the country. “We are delighted to come onboard this year and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership,” he added.
