(Reuters) - The Liverpool board has agreed to sell the Premier League club to New England Sports Ventures (NESV) for 300 million pounds ($477.6 million), chairman Martin Broughton said on Wednesday.
Current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett had been looking for about 600 million pounds, according to local media.
The sale is subject to a legal dispute with the current American owners being resolved and Broughton, speaking on Sky Sports News, said it was “their last chance to leave Liverpool with their heads high”.
“It is 300 million altogether,” he said of the accepted offer from NESV, owners of baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
