Lasith’s ton and Dileep’s ten wicket haul helps STC Matara to nine wicket win

De Silva Lasith Lakshan scored 103 runs off 91 balls with sixteen boundaries and a six while right arm off spinner Dileep Tharaka was rewarded with two five wicket hauls to help St. Thomas’ College Matara register a nine wicket win against St. Johns’ College Panadura at the Uyanwatte stadium (13).

STC batting first declared their innings at 276/6. Openers Dilum Krishan 67 off 111 balls with ten boundaries and Lasith Lakshan shared a 156 run partnership for the first wicket. Ayesh Madhusanka and Harsha Salgado captured two wickets each. Dileep Tharaka captured 5 for 44 to restrict the visitors to 143 runs in their first essay. Nadun Darshana topped the batting with 43 runs. Following on St. Johns’ were bowled out for an almost identical score of 142 by Dileep Tharaka (5 for 50) and Nevindu Udesh (4 for 45). Isuru Lakpriya scored 45 runs. With ten runs needed for victory STC scored it for the loss of one wicket in 5.3 overs.
