Lankan golfers in UAE hosting blockbuster Golf Day at Victoria

The Lankan Golfers Society, UAE, are organising a day of extreme fun and competition on 21 April at the Victoria Golf Club in Rajawella, Digana.

If you are a golfer, irrespective of whether you consider yourself a good or a not so good golfer, if your aim is to have some fun on the course, enjoy great camaraderie and have a bit of fun at the 19th hole after your round, then this is an event not to be missed.

The Lankan Golfers Society UAE is a strictly non profit outfit formed by a group of ‘Golf Crazy’ Sri Lankan expat professionals living in the UAE.

The primary objective of the Society is arranging fun golfing events in both Sri Lanka and across the UAE for their membership and other golf loving expats of varying nationalities based in the UAE.

This year the Lankan Golfers have decided to bring their unique brand of golfing hospitality to Sri Lanka and the event will be open to the first 100 registrations on a first come first served basis.

Julien Arnolda, who is the Founder and President of the Lankan Golfers Society stated, “Starting in Victoria this year, we expect to make this an annual event being held on a rotational basis in Colombo, Nuwara Eliya and Victoria and perhaps on the new course in Trincomalee in time to come. The event will be held on the 21st April 2012 at Victoria Golf Club in Rajawella, Kandy, Sri Lanka. We are planning a day that would maintain the highest standards of hospitality not only for the players but also for their families with refreshments, entertainment, golf clinics etc planned throughout the day with a fun social evening of music and food bringing the day to a close. There will also be lots of exciting prizes for the players to make it an unforgettable day of fun and competition. The overall winner of the tournament will win a fully paid golfing trip to Dubai to play a few rounds of golf with the Lankan Golfers on some of the finest courses in the UAE. The prize will include return air fare, 5 star accommodation and green fees. The tournament will be played in the Stableford format and there will be divisional winner and runner-up prizes as well as nearest to pin, longest drive and straightest drive prizes as well,” said Arnolda.

The event is sponsored by Shan Auto Pvt Ltd, Entrust, Jabra, HSBC, Senok, Hutch, Kandyan Manor, Frico, Sri Lankan Airlines, Red Bull and Trade Ventures. Any residue of the sponsorship money will be used in full for a select initiative to improve the welfare of the caddies and ball boys at the Victoria Golf Club.
