Land Rover, one of the most sought-after prestige brands in the world and one of the top three European luxury automobile brands in Sri Lanka in the last five years, will once again sponsor the forthcoming Colombo Night Races as the official course car, as well as providing support vehicles. Land Rover has sponsored the Colombo Night Races for the past three years and with each event their involvement has increased. According to SML Frontier Automotive MD Sheran Fernando, the course car will be used by the Race Director/Clerk of the Course to make sure the track is safe and ready for racing. “This could happen before events, during or after. The course car will be used at all times to make sure the event goes as planned and for officials to access the track. The Support vehicles are used to transport anything that the race officials may need.” This year Land Rover will have a corporate VIP stand at the Dutch Hospital for their customers to view the racing. “We also just started a competition on Facebook for Land Rover owners. All they need to do is submit a picture with a caption of their vehicle. The five pictures with the most ‘likes’ will win VIP passes to the LR stand. A Range Rover will be the official course car, whilst the all new Range Rover will be on display at the event,” said SML Frontier Automotives Manager Special Projects, Andrew Choksy. In addition to the luxury automotive sector, another market segment that Land Rover dominates is that of the military, where it has been a partner for the past 50 years and has done yeoman service, remaining ‘the vehicle of choice’ within the Sri Lankan military, while for the ‘Bold and the Adventurous’ Land Rover is the undisputed choice.
