Unbeaten Kingswood College edged out a fancied Wesley College outfit 40 points (5 tries, 3 conversions, 3 penalties) to 39 points (5 tries, 4 conversions, 2 penalties) at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.
It was running rugby at its best with the three-quarter line of both schools producing spectacular moves which were witnessed by a packed stadium over the weekend. In forward play, Wesley held the slight edge, playing better rugby but mistakes in ball handling cost them the game and the trophy which they won last year.
The tries for the Randles Hill school were scored by H. Jansen, A. Rajanayake and A. Seneviratne (2) and Senaviratne L. Ranaweera converted them.
For Wesely the tries were scored by M. Zabar, Avishka Lee, C Aponso and S.D. Perera with Lee and Zubair taking the conversions. The referee for the game was Anura Shantha.
