Kanrich Finance wins Shield at Mercantile Rugby Sevens

At the Mercantile Rugby Tournament, held on recently, at CR and FC Grounds Kanrich Finance Team succeeded in winning the coveted Championship Shield. 

Laugfs, Expo-Lanka, Pan Asia Bank and Brandix teams were beaten by Kanrich Finance. At the Finals Kanrich Finance Team met last year’s winners Kandurata Kuda Team, and defeated them at 26-12, to become the Champion Team, acquiring the Shield.

An outstanding fact is that the Kanrich Finance Team played under the coaching of two experienced players who represented the National level. Pradeep Basnayake, former Member of the National Selections Committee, and the Captain of the National Rugby Team 2003-2004, currently serves as the Deputy General Manager of Kanrich Finance. Meanwhile, Bandula Mallikarachchi, who represented the National Rugby Team, is currently Senior Assistant Manager-Business Development, Kandy Branch.

On this occasion, Thivankav Ratnayake of Kanrich Finance was nominated as the best player of the Championship Shield series.

Pradeep Samarakoon, Captain of the Kanrich Finance team, stated that it was possible to win this series because the experienced players contributed with a team spirit. Speaking further he said that he holds in esteem the cooperation provided by all in Kanrich Finance, from the management to all the staff members to escalate the sports skills of the team.
