Defending league and Clifford Cup champions Kandy will participate in the inaugural Asian Rugby Western Clubs Champions League, which will take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 11-18 September.
Kandy, Almaty Rugby Football Club, Doha Rugby Football Club and Abu Dabi Saracens will lock horns in league encounters that will be played over a duration of one week where all the teams will play three matches apiece.
Kandy will be captained by Fazil Marija this season while Sean Wijesinghe will function as the club’s Head Coach with Saliya Kumara assisting him.
Presently, Wijesinghe is on a coaching assignment in Ireland. Johan Taylor, who will be the team’s Technical Adviser, will be in the island by the first week of September, in time for the UAE tour.
