Trinity College Kandy junior rugby players in the under 14 segment walked away as the champions of the schools rugby tournament beating S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia by 10 points (one goal, one drop goal) to 5 points (one try) in the final of the Milo 12-a-side all island inter school under-14 rugby tournament which was worked off at the Royal Sports Complex.
Thomians scored first though Tharusha Kulasinghe touched down for an unconverted try. Trinity’s Shehan Sirisoma did a good sprint to score under the posts, with Minidu Jayasuriya adding the extra two points with an easy conversion. Minutes before the final whistle Manidu Jayasuriya executed a beautiful drop goal to take further ahead 10/5.
Plate Championship was won by Kingswood College, Kandy beating Royal College, Colombo 17/0. Wesley College accounted for the Bowl beating Dharmaraja College, Kandy by 10/7.
The tournament was conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Rugby Football Association with the sponsorship of Nestle Lanka’s Milo brand.
