JK Office Automation, led by Dushanth Lewke, emerged as the new winner at the John Keells Group Inter-Company Rugby Football 7s 2011, concluded at Longdon Place on Saturday.
Office Automation beat the defending champions for the past four years, Leisure Inbound A by 19 points to 10 in that Cup Final to lift the Ken Balendra Challenge Trophy. The scores stood at 5/5 at half time.
In the Semi-Finals, Office Automation thrashed Leisure Inbound B 54/0, while Leisure Inbound A crushed Transportation Sector 40/7.
CR&FC player Piyum Jayasinghe, who represented Office Automation, was picked as the player of the final, while the National Sevens player from Air Force, who represented Leisure Inbound A, was adjudged as the player of the tournament.
In the play off for the third place, Transportation rode to a convincing 21/12 win over Leisure Inbound B. Cinnamon Lakeside won the Bowl beating Resort Hotels 38/12 and the Combined Team JKPLC and JKSB beat Union Assurance 12/0 to lift the Shield.
In the fun events, Transportation sector won the Cheer Leaders contest, Resort Hotels won the Hakka contest and Cinnamon Grand won the Best Tent competition.
