According to reliable sources, former S. Thomas’ College, Havelocks and Sri Lanka player Michael Jayasekera has been nominated for the post of SLRFU President by the powerful Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU), at a special meeting held at the Havelock Sports Club last evening.
Nominations from other provinces are likely to follow. Former Science College and Sri Lanka Sevens Skipper and CH&FC player Nazeem Mohamed was nominated for the post of Vice President.
Nazeem, who rendered yeoman service as President of the WPRFU, is tipped to get the green light from other provinces well.
He was also a national selector for a number of years. Former Zahira College, Police and Sri Lanka prop Hafeez Marso got the nomination for the post of Secretary while former Royal prop forward Ravi Wijenathan earned the Treasurer nomination from the WPRFU.
