Zahira College Group of the sixties organised rugby tournaments at the Zahira College Grounds on 6 February and Isipathana College beat Zahira College 41-0 in the Final.
Leading local schools in rugby and a foreign school participated in this tournament. The participating schools included Isipathana College, Thurstan College, Lalith Athulathmudali College, Prince of Wales College, Royal College Panadura, St. Benedict’s College, Veluwana Vidyalaya, Carey College, C.W.W. Kannangara Vidyalaya, Royal College Colombo, Zahira College and IM Sarawak Combined Schools in Malaysia.
In the Bowl Final, Royal College Panadura beat St. Benedict College 17-7 and in the Plate Final, Thurstan College beat Royal College 15-12 while in the Cup Final Isipathana College beat Zahira College 41-0 in this tournament. Champion of the Isipathana College Captain Kushan Indunil received his award from chief guest and also winner of the plate and bowl teams received cash prizes, gold medals and awards from the guests.
Chief Guest Western Province Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union President Mohamed Nazim, Guest of Honour Former Rugby Player Mohamed Thambi, Hemaka Amarasuriya, Board of Governors Chairman Fowzul Hameed, Principal of the Zahira College Trizvi Marikkar, G 60 President Ifthikar Ahamed Tournament Director Ibrahim Hamid and Chairman Organising Committee M.S.M. Mazeer were distributed awards to winners and runners up teams.
