The Ministry of Sports has taken steps to appoint an interim committee for the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka, since the association has planned to hold its elections without proper regulations. The Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage has taken steps to appoint this committee in accordance with the powers vested in him through the 1973 Sports Act article 25.
Officials of the Ministry said that the Ministry of Sports is constantly giving its attention to the complaints and criticisms that are directed against the sports federations of Sri Lanka and strives to improve them with a view to develop National Sports of the country.
Further the Ministry stresses that the it will remain firm with regard to the sports federations and associations that do not uphold the Sports Act.
The officials also said that an Interim Committee for the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka will be appointed within the next few days.
