Cricketers in 11 clubs participating in the Premier Division received Surgical and Medical Insurance covers thanks to the generous contribution of the National Players of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team.
At a simple ceremony held at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Friday, 17 May 2013, 110 cricketers received the said Insurance covers which is another project by the National Players of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team in order to assist the development of cricket in Sri Lanka. The recipients of the Insurance scheme include players from SSC, NCC, Ports Authority, Tamil Union, Colts CC, Lankan CC, Ragama CC, Air Force SC, BRC, Bloomfield and Chilaw Marians.
The said Insurance Scheme was implemented through the Sri Lanka Cricketer’s Association (SLCA). The scheme would mostly benefit the young up and coming cricketers who may not have any insurance cover for the 2013/2014 season. The National Cricketers have funded many projects annually through the SLCA and have ensured their continued support for the development of cricket in Sri Lanka.
