IANS: Former India opener Virender Sehwag on Thursday hoped the cricket team would win against Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series beginning 12 August. India are scheduled to play three Tests in Sri Lanka. The first Test begins at Galle on 12 August, followed by two matches at Colombo, starting 20 and 28 August, respectively.
Sehwag, here on a promotional visit, said that the series is likely to be an interesting affair and voiced his confidence in the Virat Kohli-led Indian team’s abilities. “There are many young and talented players in the team and the contest is going to be a close one,” Sehwag said.
He replaced young leg-spinner Karn Sharma in the 15-member team that was picked by the Sandeep Patil-led Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) All-India Senior Selection Committee which met in New Delhi.
"There are many young and talented players in the team and the contest is going to be a close one," Sehwag said during a promotional event.
