HSBC unbeaten for 4th successive year in 4th AmCham Bowling Tournament 2013

The fourth AmCham Bowling Tournament 2013, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AmCham), was held on 26 July 2013 at the Excel World Entertainment Park, Colombo 10. Teams from 35 leading corporates and institutions took part in this year’s tournament and the event was conducted through three preliminary rounds. The top 21 teams with the best scores were selected to play in the fourth and final round. A team comprised of five members with a compulsory female member.

HSBC emerged champions and remains unbeaten for the fourth year of the AmCham Bowling Tournament with a final score of 703 points. Commercial Bank was the first runner-up with 687 points and MAS Intimates ‘B’ was adjudged the second runner-up with 638 points. Zaharan Mohamed of HSBC won the Best Player –Male award with 202 points while Michelle Thiele of Commercial Bank was awarded the Best Player – Female award with 125 points. The Best Player – Male/Female was selected from the final round. Vijaya Ratnayake, President, AmCham, stated that it was encouraging to see more teams participating each year. 21 teams participated in the first year with the number increasing to 26 in 2011 and 35 teams in 2012 and 2013. He also thanked American & Efird Lanka, the platinum sponsor of the event, for coming forward to support AmCham in conducting a successful bowling tournament for the second consecutive year.
