HNB progress to Women’s ‘A’ Division cager final

HNB advanced to the final of the Women’s ‘A’ Division of the 11th MSBA – Ram Ratnavale Memorial Challenge Trophy Basketball Tournament 2016, now in progress at the Henry Pedris Sports Complex.  

In the semi-final, HNB scored a comprehensive 62-42 win over Seylan Bank, after leading 27-22 at half time. 

Anjalee Ekanayake (21), Kumarine de Silva (17) and Umanga de Zoysa (15) were the top shooters for the winners.  Jayaliya Kumari (15) played a hard game for the losers.

Softlogic Holdings, fighting every inch of the way, beat Standard Chartered Bank by a single point   (55/54) in the Men’s ‘C’ Division semi-final.  Softlogic led 28-25 at the breather. The match-winners for Softlogic were skipper P. Udayanga (15), A. Fernando (12) and I. Kumara (10);  R. Mohamed (21) and L. Fernando (15) played with tenacity for the  bankers.
