High demand for ICC Champions Trophy 2013 tickets

Demand for tickets for the ICC Champions Trophy has been exceptionally high, with tickets selling quickly following the official release of further tickets in a planned second phase of sales.

"We've been staggered by the interest shown by today's ticket sales," said Tournament Director Steve Elworthy, adding: "The allocation of tickets for India v Pakistan sold out in under thirty minutes, with tickets released for other matches, including the final, also selling-out. We'd like to thank everyone who attempted to buy tickets for these games and sympathise with those who were unsuccessful but owing to the high demand, the tickets that were released yesterday sold very quickly.

"This just goes to show the growing excitement and real passion cricket fans have for this tournament, one in which they will have the chance to see live the world's top 50-over cricketers playing in England and Wales this June." Additional tickets for all 15 matches, including coveted games such as India v Pakistan, England v Australia and the final went on sale this morning via the official ICC ticket website (www.icc-cricket.com) and telephone (0844 249 2013). Fans trying to purchase tickets through secondary websites, however, should be warned as Mr Elworthy explained: "All tickets to the ICC Champions Trophy will include the ticket buyer's name to make it easier to track any re-sale. Any tickets found to have been sold in a secondary market will be cancelled and all tickets will be scanned at entry to the ground rendering cancelled or duplicated tickets invalid."

The ICC Champions Trophy 2013, featuring Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies, will be played across three world-class venues - Cardiff Wales Stadium, Edgbaston and The Oval - over 18 days from 6-23 June.

Adult tickets for the ICC Champions Trophy are priced in three categories - Gold, Silver and Family Stand - and range from £20 (for a group game in the Family Stands) up to £60 (Gold ticket for the Final).

 Tickets for under 16s are priced at £5 for the entire tournament (including the Final), but must attend with an adult. A new pricing structure also sees the introduction of tickets for under 21s, priced between £10 - £25.
