The 15th Inter-Plantation Cricket 6s took place at the Dimbula Athletic and Cricket Club (DACC) cricket grounds in Radella recently.
Hapugastenne Plantations Plc emerged as champions while Pussellawa Plantations Plc grabbed the runners-up position.
The Dimbulla Aheletic and Cricket Club, which is celebrating its 161st anniversary this year, was founded in 1856 for the sports of rugby, cricket, squash, billiards, snooker, tennis and badminton. This is the second-oldest planters’ club in Sri Lanka.
Horana Plantations Plc were named Plate Champions and Agrapatna Plantations Plc (Agras) were the plate runners-up. The bowl champions award was shared between Maturata Plantations Plc and Namunukula Plantations Plc.
The Player of the Tournament prize was awarded to Chathura Bandara of Hapugastenne Plantations Plc and the Best Batsman award was presented to Sarath Ranaweera of Talawakelle Tea Estates Plc. The accolade for Best Bowler was presented to Mehiranga Bandara of Hapugastenne Plantations Plc.
This year’s event was organised and conducted at the club under the guidance of President Gimhan Jayathilake. The other committee members comprised Secretary Sarath Ranaweera, Vice President Uditha Tennekoon, Treasurer Aruna Dissanayake, committee members Senaka Alawattegama, Aruna Bandaranayake, Uchira Udawatte, Bandara Dasanayake, Sashika Wickramasinghe, Kalana De Silva, Dilroy Manohar and Shaminda Samarasinghe. The cricket convener is Naleein Kumara.
