The Royal Colombo Golf Club is set to come alive this Saturday as the RCGC May Monthly Medal tees off in style, sponsored by Softlogic Finance. Featuring the five categories of play including Divisions A,B, C, as well as Masters and Seniors Divisions, the tournament will be conducted on a strokeplay format and is expected to attract close to 200 golfers.

The RCGC which was founded over 130 years ago is the second oldest Royal Golf Club in the world outside the United Kingdom, and boasts a rich heritage of tradition and culture.  The Monthly Medal is an event that goes back a long way in time and is the most regular occurrence on the local golfing calendar at the RCGC.

Softlogic Finance is delighted to be associated with this event and has set up the May Medal as a ‘medal with a difference’.  An unusual element has been drafted into the format that will keep players attempting to seek the best nett score on 6 hidden holes in each division.  The holes will be randomly selected and not be revealed until the end of the tournament.

An array of attractive prizes including digital cameras, home theatre systems and an impressive LCD flat-screen television are up for grabs as Softlogic Finance partners the RCGC for the first time. Previously known as Capital Reach, Softlogic Finance is now backed by the Softlogic Group, one of Sri Lanka’s most diversified and fastest-growing conglomerates. Members of the Club will also be able to avail themselves to special deals on Ford and Daihatsu automobiles on the day that are distributed by the Softlogic Group.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, 28th of May, with tee-offs starting at 6am, and promises to be an exhilarating day of golf for all May Monthly Medal patrons. This new sporting partnership is expected to offer fresh impetus to the golfing calendar with Softlogic Finance making the circuit more lucrative for players and Group involvement in the sport set to pick up pace in the months to come.
