Former Kingswood, Sri Lanka sevens and fifteens player Gayan Weeraratne will lead the Kandy Sports Cub in 2017/2018. His appointment was made at the Annual General Meeting which took place yesterday at their cub house in Nittawela.
Gayan will be taking over from his younger brother Roshan who took Kandy to a double win (league and Clifford Cup) under his leadership. Gayan played for Kingswood from 2005 to 2007 before leading the Sri Lanka Under-19 outfit at the junior Rugby Asiad. Later on went on to represent the country in both forms of the game in tandem.
Cargills, platinum sponsor of the Kandy SC for a number of years, will see its big boss Ranjit Page included as a trustee of the up country club. Singer and Etisalat are the co-sponsors of the club.
