Five Sri Lankan athletes awarded scholarships for 2016 Rio Olympics

Upon the request of National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Olympic Solidarity has awarded an Olympic Scholarship for Rio 2016 to five Sri Lankan athletes after a careful consideration and in consultation with the respective International Federations. The athletes are: E. Niluka Rushan Perera Karunaratne – Badminton, K. Anton Sudesh Peiris – Weightlifting, W. Chamara Milinda Perera – Wrestling, R.M. Chandrika Subashini Rasnayaka – Athletics, and R. Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardhana – Judo. The athletes were nominated by the national federation considering their performances at the past Games. Scholarship holders will be benefited under this program till August 2016.
