The country’s leading retail clothing store stepped up as the recently held motor racing event’s principal sponsor and exclusive apparel partner
Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka’s leading retail clothing stores with over 17 outlets island-wide, stepped up as the principal sponsor and exclusive apparel partner in extending its support to the most popular and thrilling motor sports event Fox Hill Supercross 2014 which was held recently on 19 April.
Organised annually by the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) and Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), the misty hills in Diyatalawa reverberated with the roar of engines as it welcomed over 200 racing and riding experts including competitors from overseas, drawing tens and thousands of motor sport enthusiasts and holiday makers who witnessed its thrills and excitement.
Fashion Bug Director Shabier Subian said, “We are indeed very delighted to be associated both as a principal sponsor and the exclusive apparel partner with a gala sports show of such nature.”
Subian went on to credit its long relationship with SLMA since Fashion Bug’s inception in 1994 at the heart of Bandarawela, a close proximity to Diyatalawa, just one year after Fox Hill Supercross was initiated. “We look forward to further strengthen our relationship and bring our brand of changing lifestyles to rurals and towns at a time where regional development plays a major role in enhancing Sri Lanka’s economy outlook.”
Since its inception during 1993, Fox Hill is now in its 22nd successive year and has earned a reputation for being the showpiece of Motorcross in Sri Lanka with the mega event not only being an attraction to the locals, but increasingly the tourists travelling to the island. The racing track which runs two kilometres long, was designed by Hans Ralf Karpensky of SLARDAR with further improvement with SLMA’s assistance.
Commandant of SLMA and Chairman of Fox Hill Supercross 2014, Brig IP Ranasinghe happily said that the event experienced two thrilling days of memorable stunts and moments. Representing the SLARDAR was Yoga Perera, the motor sports racing association’s 2010/11 President.
Fashion Bug Marketing Manager Samadhi Abeysinghe said, “We’re proud to have sponsored the thrills and spills of the country’s biggest and long-standing motor sports event. With CSR activities being no stranger to us, the Fox Hill Supercross 2014 goes beyond to exhibit our brand passion of changing lifestyles.” She also added that they look forward to associate with similar events and shows in years to come.
