Etisalat Lanka continues its well-established relationship with the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) by signing a long-term sponsorship agreement with Colombo’s top golf club. The 133 year old Royal Colombo Golf Club which recently won the award for the best Golf Course in the Sub-Continent first chose Etisalat to partner them 11 years ago.

The most recent sponsored board tournament are; 14th annual Donald Steel Trophy at the VGC, ‘The Club Championship 2012, at the NEGC and Golf Classics 2012 at the RCGC. Speaking about the new development, Etisalat Lanka Director/CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka stated: “We are pleased and honoured that the RCGC has decided to extend their ties with us. Golf is one of the many sports that we focus on. Our strong ties with the RCGC, as well as the other three golf clubs in Sri Lanka, are an endorsement of our firm commitment to the sport.”

He added that Etisalat Lanka has been partnering with the RCGC for over 11 years, and this new long-term deal was a natural progression of the solid relationship between the two institutions. “When these top organisations extend their relationships with us, it’s a colossal vote of confidence of our ability and commitment,” he further added. RCGC Captain Priath Fernando also gave his views, stating: “We are proud of our growing relationship with Etisalat Lanka and appreciate their continued support, not only for us at the RCGC, but also for the sport across Sri Lanka.”

He added that he hopes in time to come, the Club will be able to attract high profile tournaments, with more prize money, so that Sri Lanka could also become a regular destination for top golfers playing in the Asian Circuit.
