The Southern Motor Sports Club of Sri Lanka held the Eliyakanda Hill Climb for the 20th consecutive time at Browns Hill, Matara on 26 March.
This was the setting for where Mobil Brand Ambassador Dinesh Jayawardana, rewrote the record books and set the new course record at the event. Jayawardana set the record in his very first run up the hill clocking in at an amazing 32.65 seconds, it was a time that none of the other competitors could overcome.
Previous record holder Darin Weerasinghe came close but not close enough to Jayawardana’s record timeclocking in at 32.80 seconds while Ushan Perera completed the podium finishes with his time of 33.27 seconds.
This capped off a remarkable start to the racing season for Team Mobil with their Brand Ambassador not only winning the SL-GT up to 3500cc event and setting the new course record but also bagging the fastest driver award for the day.
