DIMO, Textured Jersey face in MCA B Division Final on Saturday

Two youthful and well balanced teams, DIMO and Textured Jersey, will come out with all guns firing in order to savour the ‘EmeraldCeylon Tea’ Cup, when the MCA “B” division 50 –Over League Tournament 2016 Final takes place on Saturday, 7 November, at the MCA Grounds commencing 10a.m.

DIMO has been starved off match practice, as their quarter finalVs.Commercial Bank “A” and the Semi-FinalVs.Mobitel got rained off;they walked through to the final on their credentials of holding the higher position in the league Table; DIMO finished as No. 1 in group “A”. 

Inthe league stage, DIMO was not without blemish, as they unexpectedly lost toKanrich Finance “A” by 18 runs on the D&L method;they recorded wins against Mobitel by 05 wickets,John Keells “B” by 07 wickets Singer Sri Lanka “A” by 09 wickets and in their last league game, beat their arch rivals, Hayleys Group by 34 runs on the D&L method. 

All-rounderMatheeshaPerera leads DIMO,which includes National player, Dinesh Chandimal;hard hitting batsmen such asJason Perera, NipunKarunaratne and PulinaTharanga;good fast men in the likes ofNisalaTharaka and HeshanRamanayake. 

In the league stage,Textured Jersey, too tasted defeat once, losing to LB Finance “A” by 80 runs on the D&L method; their match against Raigam Marketing, the “wooden spoonist” was rained off; their wins were against MAS Linea Aqua by 180 runs;Commercial Bank “A” by 05 wickets & MAS Silueta by 09 runs. 

Unlike, DIMO, Textured Jersey had to earn their wins in the elimination stage;they did it in a convincing fashion byeliminatingthe group “A” leader,Kanrich Finance “A” by 10 wickets in the Quarter finals and crushed John Keells “B” by 06 wickets in the Semi Finals. 

Textured Jersey is led by the opening batsman, who is in cracking form at the moment, NilushanNonis;consistent Nonis really got into top gear, carrying bat out after hitting a belligerent century(107 not out in 87 balls,inclusive of 06 sixes and 08 fours) against the fancied Kanrich Finance in the quarter finals; Nonis followed it up with a half century(58 in 90 balls, inclusive of 04 fours) against John Keells“B”in the Semi Finals;In the league stage matches, Nonis scored 66Vs.MAS Linea Aqua & 60Vs.Commercial Bank “A”.

However, Nonis will certainly look up to his reliable team mates, such as Ramesh Mendis,RangeethPeiris, Lakshan Sandakan,AmithErandaand NipunaKarunaratne to carry them to victory.
