David Peiris Motor Company is sponsoring the ongoing MCA “E” division
40-overs League Tournament 2012 for the 10th successive year.
The tournament kicked off on 17 December with the participation of 19 teams in three groups in two stages, consisting 58 matches, concluding on 10 March 2012. The teams vying for the “Bajaj” Challenge trophy are: Akbar Brothers, Colombo Dockyard, Commercial Bank “B”, Mercantile Investments Ltd., Mabrock Teas and CW Mackie and Company (all playing in Group “A”); Aviva NDB Bank, Delmage Group “A”, Linea Aqua , Silueta (Pvt) Ltd and Trellerborg Lanka, (all playing in Group “B”); Aitken Spence Group, Asian Alliance Insurance, CIFL, Hemas Group, Commercial Credit, Union Assurance and Debug Computers (all playing in Group “C”). The 58 matches are spread around seven venues, namely MCA, Thurstan College, Ananda College, St. Benedict’s College, Prince of Wales College, St. John’s College, Panadura and BRC. The sponsor, DPMC once again has offered four special awards, for the best batsman, bowler and man –of-the- series (based on performances in the league stage matches) and the Man-of-the-final. The tournament which took a break for Christmas will be back on rails during 07/08 January 2012 with a card of seven matches.
