The third main tournament in the MCA 2017 season – the ‘D’ Division Over-40 League Tournament 2017 - will get underway on 19 and 20 November. The final is scheduled for 13 January 2017.
16 teams pooled into four groups will play a series of 39 matches in two stages, including the final. The league stage will contain 24 matches and the elimination stage will contain 15 matches.
Group ‘A’ - Brumby’s International, NDB Bank, AMW Group and Heshan Flexe
Group ‘B’ - David Pieris Motor Co., Kanrich Finance ‘B’, Hemas Group and Softlogic Holdings
Group ‘C’ – Delmage Group, Ceylinco Insurance, Hilton Colombo Residencies and Citizens Development Business
Group ‘D’ – Expolanka Group, Nations Trust Bank ‘B’, Bodyline Ltd. and Central Finance and Investments
The 39 matches are spread around seven selected venues, namely MCA, NSCA/Ratmalana, Army/Mattegoda, Veyangoda Central, Thurstan College and St. John ‘s Panadura.
All matches will be supervised by an MCA-appointed match referee. The panel consists of Nalin Perera, Sena Nandiweera, Athula Wickramatillake, U.S.C. Perera, Waruna Waragoda, Gamini Dissanayake, Mangala Jayasena, Thusitha Karunaratne, Sudath Munaweera and Manoj Perera.
The tournament ball, The Grays of Cambridge, is directly imported by the MCA from Pakistan. The special awards on offer are for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Series and Man of the Final.
Last season the Commercial Credit and Finance ‘B’ team beat Central Finance by 138 runs in the final on 28 March at the MCA grounds.
