Crysbro recognises sporty employees in unique sports meet

The dominant upcountry name in chicken production in Sri Lanka, Crysbro Group of Companies in a bid to recognise the sporting talents among its employees organised the company’s Inter-House Sports meet which was successfully conducted on 12 March at the Wickramabahu National College Grounds, Gampola.

The Crysbro Group which always promotes and recognises the talents of its employees has been organising sports events annually which in the past were for the most part Cricket Tournaments. Head of the Organising Committee, Group HR and Administration Manager Ranjana Mahindasiri shedding light on the event said the prime objective of the exercise was to give Crysbro Group employees a diverse unforgettable experience, enhance and encourage employee participation, attachment and boost the unity among them, apart from using sports as a motivational platform.

Approximately 1,000 employees divided among three houses Venus, Mars and Jupiter showcased their athletic talents at the sports meet. House Managers, Assistant House Managers and Sports Captains acted as key leaders in each house to coordinate with the Organising Committee and administrate their respective houses.

The well-organised meet comprised 50 Track and Field events. The other unique features was that   Houses which were decorated using natural ingredients and resources where allocated additional points for using eco-friendly tools. The grand opening ceremony added much value to the meet with Olympic traditions such as Greek women and Olympic Torch added making the meet more vibrant and lively.

International Gold Medallist Sugath Thilakarathna, Chairman, Sri Lanka Athletic Association participated as the Chief Guest at the meet and veteran National Level Athlete, former National Coach, an old boy of Wickramabahu National College, S.M.G. Bandara, International Gold Medallist Yamaani Dulanjalee, who is a student of Ambagamuwa Central College, and E.G.P. Karunarathna, Principal of Wickramabahu National College were the other distinguished guests at the event.

The meet, which was held with much splendour, climaxed when Mars house with 174 points winning the first place followed by Jupiter house with 143 points securing the second place and Venus house with 117 points clinching the third place. Based on the decision by Panel of Judges Venus House was also selected as the Most Excellent House for its creative decorations, housekeeping, cheering prowess and discipline. All winners were recognised and honoured with medals and cups. Overall Champs Mars House was presented with an invaluable trophy.

The Crysbro Management Team came under high praise from Chief Guest Sugath Thilakarathna and all other guests who congratulated and appreciated the effort of organising such a smart, vibrant and amazing Sports Meet.

The Crysbro Sports Meet Organising Committee appreciated the supports given by the Board of Directors, senior management, employees, members of the Organising Committee, the Principal of Wickramabahu National College and the PTI Team of Wickramabahu College for enabling the successful conclusion of the event.

The champions under each age group with highest achievements were Best Athlete, Male, under 30 years – D.M. Nuwan Sampath Dissanayaka, Jupiter House, Kanthale Agriculture Farm. Best Athlete, Female, under 30 years – U.L. Apsara Hansani Liyanarachchi, Mars House, Head Office. Best Athlete, Male, age between 31-40 years – J. Nuwan Paranagama, Mars House, Transport Section. Best Athlete, Female, age between 31-40 years – A. Udayani Sakunthala, Jupiter House, Nawalapitiya Farm. Best Athlete, Male, age above 41 yeas – S. Balakrishnan, Transport Section. Best Athlete, Female, age above 41 years – S.G. Anoma, Jupiter House, Processing Plant, Ethgala.

The Group which has recognised the significance of corporate social responsibility also conducts several CSRs with ‘Diri Saviya’ focusing on providing income avenues for contract breeders and contract farmers. Under the ‘Suwa Shakthi’ programme the renovation and the whitewashing hospitals and maternity clinics has been carried out in several hospitals  and under the ‘Praja Aruna’ project Crysbro  also has initiated housing programs. Also under its CSR initiatives are ‘Sisu Diriya’ and ‘Haritha Sathkaaraya’.

Crysbro Group is the only poultry producer in Sri Lanka with ISO 14001, Environment Safety Certification and the BRC- British Retail Consortium Certification. It is also certified with ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and Halal Regulations.
