Chamila Daminda from Commercial Bank “B”, Bimsara Thimal from MAS Silueta “B” and Purna Mediwaka from AIA Insurance hogged the limelight in the opening weekend matches of the 15th David Pieris Group of Companies-sponsored ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA “E” division 30-Over League Tournament 2017, which got underway last weekend.
One drop batsman, Chamila Daminda hit a hurricane 138 not out in 71 balls, inclusive of 15 sixes and 04 fours, as Commercial Bank “B” snuffed out Ceylon Tobacco Co. by a huge margin of 115 runs.
Bimsara Thimal came up with a fantastic bowling performance of 6/26/6 to hand over MAS Silueta “B” to a heart stopping 03 runs win over Unilever.
Purna Mediwaka’s impressive bowling effort of 6/5/30 did not bear fruit for AIA Insurance, as Mercantile Investments coasted to a comprehensive 116 runs win, riding on the 115 runs opening stand between skipper, Prasad Senaratne (59) and Dilshan Rusiru (54)
