Chamara Abeyratne walked away with the 10th Mark Bostock Memorial Golf Trophy after competition ended at the beautiful Victoria Golf Course in Rajawella, Digana during the weekend.
This event began in 2008 with Chris Holloway winning the first trophy on offer. A total of 65 participants teed off at this year’s event, with the numbers dropping due to floods in the country.
The golfing fraternity will long remember Mark Bostock, the former Chairman of John Keells Holdings, as the visionary behind the Victoria Golf Course and its holding company Rajawella Holdings Ltd.
Mark Bostock conceived the idea of a golf course in the centre of the island, in the scenic area bordering the newly-built Victoria Dam. This tournament is held in his memory and to celebrate all that is good about the game of golf.
The Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy is the flagship tournament and board event of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort. The tournament is linked to VGCR history and tradition. The tournament is well established and has been supported throughout the years by both locals and foreign golfers.
Romaine Pourveen won the Ken Balendra Challenge Trophy while Niloo Jayathilake won the Tony Whitham Challenge Trophy.
The following were the winners of the 2017 event which was held last weekend in Digana.
