The Sri Lanka Golf Union conducts the Pin Fernando Grand Prix 2017, with a new stroke play format encouraging juniors and ladies too to participate.
CAT SOLAR has come forward to sponsor the 2017 initial segment of the Amateur Golf Grand Prix, which are the events counted for the WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking).
Among the chief contenders for the January 2017, event, B. A. Sanjeewa, the current leader of the PFGP, Arumugam, J.M.D. Indika, Naveenda Ranga, Amarapadma, youngsters Chalitha Pushpika, M.U. Chanaka Perera, will vie for honours. Two leading amateurs Sisira Kumara and G.M. Pradeep Kumara will be missed due to injury on their return from the Bangladesh Amateur Championship earlier this month.
The defence service golfers, Dhanusha Perera and D.M. Pradeep Bandara from Sri Lanka Navy, H.L.S. Sanathchandra and K.G.J.B. Rathnayake from the Army, K.B.S. Madushanka and G.W.A.J. Wijeynayake from the Sri Lanka Air Force lead the challenge for supremacy representing the armed services who are improving on a daily basis.
The PFGP is the cradle to discover and develop golfing talent and this CAT SOLAR PFGP 2017 will be flagged off with prospective juniors too taking part. A few enthusiastic ladies too have entered.
The United Tractor & Equipment sponsored CAT SOLAR Golf Grand Prix will be played over four rounds at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Course with the awards ceremony recognising winners on Friday 27 January.
