Top teams representing prestigious banks in Sri Lanka will vie for the honours at the inaugural Sri Lankasports.com Inter-bank Netball Championship 2013 which unfolds on 4 May at the indoor stadium at St. Joseph’s College Colombo.
Sri Lanka’s First Sports Website –www.srilankasports.com will be organising this event with technical assistance from the Academy of Netball, Kotte and with the auspices of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka.
Hatton National Bank, Commercial Bank, Pan Asia Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Natio-nal Development Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Nations Trust Bank, Sampath Bank, DFCC Bank and Cargills Agricultural and Commercial Bank will be seen in action in four groups. Sri Lankasports.com has a successful history of organising special one-of-a-kind sporting events of this nature.
Sri Lankasports.com inaugurated an Inter-company Netball Tournament in 2006 and conducted the tournament for four consecutive years with the participation of top companies in the corporate sector. It was conducted according to a specially designed format similar to seven-a-side rugby and also introduced the power-play concept to the game of netball in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankasports.com organised Sri Lanka’s first ever under -19 Schools’ Futsal tournament under the direction of Football Federation of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Schools’ Football Association for two consecutive years.
They were also responsible in organising Sri Lanka’s first ever day-night inter-club beach football tournament for Ran FM with the support of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka. Apart from that they also created history by organising the first ever Under 15 inter-school Handball Championship in Sri Lanka in 2012 with the country’s School’s Handball Association.
