Asian Junior Squash Championships successfully ends

The Asian Junior Squash Championship which was sponsored by Ritzbury, the no. 1 selling brand of chocolates in Sri Lanka, closed recently at the Ratmalana air-force squash complex, with India & Hong Kong emerging as the winners of the boys and girls categories, respectively.

22 teams from 14 countries participated in this year’s junior squash championships. The entire contingent consisted of eight girls teams and 14 boys teams. The Boys’ finals were between India and Pakistan and the girls’ finals were held between Hong Kong and Malaysia.



Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Jordan, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq and host country Sri Lanka participated in the tournament and this year saw the highest number of countries taking part in this tournament.

Dato Sahni Kareem, President of Asian Squash Federation presented the trophies to the winning teams.

Ritzbury, who has been sponsoring Junior National Squash Championships for three consecutive years, extended the principal sponsorship for the Asian tournament with the objective of creating a platform for the local players, coaches and umpires to get a taste of the international competitive spirit.  Ritzbuty, a proud product of Ceylon Biscuits Limited won the joint best FMCG brand award at the World Brand Congress 2010 and a bronze award for the Best Product Brand across all brand categories at the 2010 SLIM Brand Excellence awards.

The 16th Asian Junior Squash Championship games will take place in South Korea.
