Katugastota Antonians will lock horns with the Kingswoodians in the important Plate segment Singer League Under 20 rugby encounter, which will be played at the Bogambara Stadium today (6).

A talented outfit Antonians lost direction this season, with a bad miss out in round 2 of the Cup segment when they had two close calls in round 1 which could have come their way positively to take them through to the top 4 to remain in the Cup segment. But that was not to be.

Further they lost out on their last year’s star player, Samuel Maduwantha, due to injury.

In this game led by Amarasinghe and well supported by players like Shabbir Katugastota, the lads hold a clear edge over their opponents.

Kingswoodians, who showed lot of promise this season opting to remain in the lower division, played well and remained unbeaten till their L E Blaze trophy where they edged out their traditional rivals Wesley. But in the last game they lost out to Dharmaraja. So this encounter will be a must-win game for the lads from Randles Hills if they want to claim the Plate Trophy.

In another encounter today, Rajans will be hosted by Vidyartha and the former should have no difficulty in pulling this off. This encounter will be played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium.
