The much awaited AMRC Formula Championship Round Two is scheduled for 1 April at the Pannala Race Track commencing at 9.30a.m. The event organised by the Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) will conduct the Formula McLarens 1300cc (two events); Ford Formula 1600cc; Pre 85 (two events); Ford Formula 1600cc; (Post 85) and a supporting One Make Event, McLarens Alto K10. This is a special event introduced recently for the benefit of young drivers who are not driving the Formula McLaens 1300cc Class.
Entries for the events will be accepted from racing drivers who hold a valid driving license issued by the Department of Motor Traffic. Closing date for entries is 28 March. Round One of the championship was held at the same venue on 12 February.
All leading Formula Drivers are expected to compete at this Event with the hope of clinching the AMRC Championship 2012. Veterans in the Motor Racing arena could also be seen on this day, thus giving the large number of spectators that are expected, an exciting day of racing.
The Formula 1600 cc class is expected to be a strong battle with last year’s Champion, Dinesh Jayawardana looking forward to maintaining his supremacy in this class. Meanwhile veterans Rizvi Farook and Ravi Mayadunne will pose a big challenge to Dinesh. It is expected that young drivers of the likes of Ashan Silva and Susantha Gunewardene who entered Formula Racing in the recent past, will be seen battling it out on the track on All Fools Day.
The One Make McLarens Alto K10 supporting event too will be hotly contested. Round One Champion, Praveen Madugalle will have to fight all the way if he is to continue in the top place gained in round one a few weeks ago.
Motor Racing enthusiasts are sure of a day filled with spills and thrills from the experienced drivers who will be competing on this day.
