All round performance by Lasith helps STC Matara to a first innings win

By P.D. De Silva Lasith Lakshan did well with bat and ball to help St. Thomas’ College Matara to a first innings win in their under 19 division II cricket

tournament which ended at the Uyanwatta stadium on Monday (17). Hasarla Ampitiyage and Tharindu Madhusanka captured four wickets each to restrict the Thomians to 136 runs of which Lasith’s contribution was 33. The Thomians did well to defend this low score and managed to bowl the visitors out for 96 runs. Bowling right arm off spin Lasith captured five wickets. Dhammaloka skipper Lakshitha Dhanjaya and Resith Upamal scored 24 runs each. The Thomians declared their second essay at 200/8. Lasith Lakshan scored his 6th half ton while Nimantha Kawishwara scored 50 runs off 49 balls with seven boundaries. Hasaral Ampitiyage captured four wickets Thiwanka Kekulawala captured three wickets. Given a victory target of 243 runs to be scored in a minimum of 43 overs, Dhammaloka did not attempt go for a win and were 131/7 from 54 overs at the end of play. Dilip Tharaka captured five wickets. Lasith Lakshan passes 1,000 run mark

Lasith Lakshan of St. Thomas’ College Matara has passed the magical 1,000 run mark this season. He reached his 1,000 runs from 19 innings with four centuries and five half tons from 14 outings. Lasith is a stylish right hand batsman who was a member of the Sri Lanka under 17 team which toured England recently.
