Text and pix by Ruzaik Farook The 10th National Competition in Abacus and Brain Gym will be held on Sunday 19 October. More than 775 children will showcase their mental prowess in the Abacus and Brain Gym National Competition to be held at St. Joseph’s College auditorium.

The competition is being organised by the SIP Academy and sponsored by Kellogg’s. SIP Academy Sri Lanka Country Manger Rishard Raheem said more children are getting involved in the SIP Abacus and Brain Gym program, which seeks to maximize a child’s potential. It does not just offer arithmetic solutions but develops mental ability. He added that SIP Abacus and Brain Gym is offered in more than 18 countries. SIP Academy Sri Lanka is managed by SIP Academy India which has more than 325 centres and 200,000 children.
