Malaysia offers a variety of tastes. This multi-cultural country offers various flavours of cuisines. The traditional culinary style has been greatly influenced by ancient traders from neighbouring countries, such as Indonesia, India, the Middle East and China. Hilton Colombo’s SPICES restaurant together with the High Commission of Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia will present a colourful Malaysian Food and Cultural promotion from 1 to 6 September during dinner. This event will happen in conjunction with ‘Hari Merdeka’ – National Day of Malaysia.
Two guest chefs will be flown in from Double Tree by Hilton Johor Bahru and the eight-member Malaysian dance troupe will entertain the diners during the six-day promotion. Colours of Malaysia could be experienced through their specially choreographed dances from the Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures of Malaysia living in perfect harmony.
Food in Malaysia is often spicy and flavourful as it utilises a bouquet of spices and herbs. Seasonings play an important role in Malay cooking as they enhance the flavours. Some of the delicious and popular dishes from this gastronomic spectrum are Nasi Goreng, Laksam, Rendang and Satays. Delicious cuisine made to perfection.
