Young golfing stars of the future and winners of the recently concluded Centenary RCGC Club Championship,
Yannik Kumara and Kaya Daluwatte, both had a top class start on day one of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship 2021, which commenced at the Royal Colombo Golf Course (RCGC) yesterday.
Yannik ended the Gold Division on top with a score of 69, followed by K. Danushan on 71. Another top-class golfer from the central hills, Haroon Aslam ended fifth with a score of 75. Meanwhile in the girls’ event in the same category, Kaya was in top form ending day one on 74, followed by Sherin Balasuriya on 78.
In the Silver division, defending champion and Sri Lankan Development pool player, 13-year-old Reshan Algama continued his good form, ending on top with a score of 76, followed by Varun Fernando on 83. In the girls’ event K. Krishanthani ended on 106.
In the Bronze division Rathis Kanth and Kaiyan Johnpillai were both tied on 75 apiece.
