Wesley College stamped their class when they won the All-Island Milo Under-16 Rugby Tournament, beating Dharmaraja College 12-7 in the Cup Final, which was played at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekelle yesterday.
This win came for the Wesley outfit after a lapse of 10 years, with them last winning in 2008.
In the semi-final encounter Wesley overcame a spirited Royal College 10-5. Meanwhile, hometown boys Dharmaraja got the better of St. Joseph’s College 12-10 in a tense encounter which could have gone either way with the game played so tight.
Last year’s runner-up Kingswood were eliminated from the Cup while defending champions Trinity ended their run in the cup semi-final when they were defeated by their traditional rivals Royal College.
Isipathana accounted for the Plate while Science College did not return empty-handed to Colombo when they captured the Bowl. Another Kandy team, Vidyartha College, took home the Shield. The event was sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd.
