South African Rugby legend Bryan Habana addressing the gathering at Nittawela

Rugby crazy Kandy city got a rare opportunity yesterday when their spectators and large number of school students in and around the Central Region rocked in to the Nittawela Rugby Stadium in order to have a look at the Rugby World Cup which was displayed at Kandy Sports Club.
The committee headed by Mahesh Weerasinghe and their entire unbeaten defending champions of the Kandy SC graced the occasion with their Co-Sponsor, Mastercard who is also instrumental in bringing the Cup to Sri Lanka.
Speaking to Daily FT, Kandy Sports Club President Mahesh Weerasinghe said: “It’s a rare opportunity and I am thankful to Master Card for bringing this trophy to Kandy where the city’s main sport is Rugby Football. Master Card is also our Co-Sponsor of the Kandy Sports Club. Number of rugby loving crowds plus school children from the Central Province came in numbers to witness this trophy and to see the South African Rugby Legend, Bryan Habana.”
He said Mastercard Brand Ambassador Bryan Habana who will be the main sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France spent time with the team and his motivation will help the youngsters in the club to reach their future goal in the oval shaped ball game.
