Sri Lanka’s No. 1 chocolate brand, Ritzbury Chocolates, continues to uplift swimming by organising the 2019 Vidudaya Ritzbury Interschool Swimming Championship for the second successive year. The Overall Girls’ Trophy of this event was won by Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, and the Overall Boys’ Trophy was clinched by St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya.
Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo, emerged as Runner-Up in the Overall Girls’ Category while the Runner-Up in the Overall Boys’ Championship was St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa.
Sole sponsor Ritzbury Chocolates organised this championship in partnership with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, which boasts the biggest swimming pool in the country.
With over 2000 participants from over 120 schools and sports clubs, the championship was held at the Sri Jayewardenepura Swimming Pool complex on 9 and 10 March. It included 96 individual and 24 relay events.
University of Sri Jayewardenepura Vice Chancellor Prof. Sampath Amaratunga commented: “We are most appreciative of the support and encouragement extended to us by Ritzbury Chocolates to make the Vidudaya Interschool Swimming Championship a success. This is indeed a very commendable initiative by Ritzbury that helps to uplift the health and physical fitness levels of students by encouraging and motivating them to focus on swimming.”
CBL Foods International Marketing General Manager Nilupul de Silva stated: “We as an organisation are dedicated to enriching and enhancing sportsmanship among youth, and committed to encouraging sportspersons to excel in swimming. We take great pride in being able to join hands with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in this endeavour.”
At the conclusion of the championship, the awards were presented to the winners by Prof. Amaratunga and Nilupul de Silva.
