Seasoned veteran Amateur Golfer N. Amarapadma took a slender One Stroke lead from B.A. Sanjeewa setting up another thrilling finish to the June edition of the monthly LECTRA Grand Prix sponsored by Apparel Technologies, a member of the Bobbin Group of Companies.
Vinoth Kumar hung in there to be a further one stroke behind in third place and the home course advantage may come in to play as Kumar bids to capture the Winners Prize at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club Course.
The overnight leader and reigning National Champ M.U. Chanaka Perera had an uncharacteristic round of six over par 77 to slip to fourth place three strokes behind the new leader Amarapadma.
The rain stayed away on the first two days but heavy overnight showers made scoring even more difficult in the third round and the leader Amarapadma at six over par after three rounds is evidence of the tough conditions for scoring.
All-in-all the LECTRA Grand Prix June edition will go down to the last green on the 18th hole with the top four separated by three strokes and the overall Grand Prix Leader Sisira Kumara just seven strokes off the lead, whilst Ranga, the previous winner in Nuwara Eliya, another one stroke adrift of Sisira Kumara.
