The much-awaited Inter-School Cricket season will commence this week with some matches down for decision. This will continue till February 2019 before the Schools Rugby season takes over.
The new inter-school cricket season will have 36 teams in four groups, contesting the Under-19 division I tournament. Each group has nine teams that will play eight matches plus a maximum of seven friendly games. For their hard work, Devapathiraja College, Rathgama and St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala, were promoted to division I from division II, while for lack of performance in the last season, St. John’s College, Panadura, and Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, were demoted to division II from division I.
Defending Singer Schools Under-19 champions St. Joseph’s College will feature from group A, while the runners-up at the last event, Trinity College from the Central Hills will come out from Group D for this six-month-long tournament.
