The Sri Lankan rugby outfit under Roshan Weeraratne will leave for Malaysia on 30 April for two friendly matches against the hosts who are playing in Asian Rugby Championship Top 3 along with Korea and Hong Kong.
The selected pool was supposed to undergo a team-building session for three days at the Navy Camp in Welisara, but it was cancelled due to the present uncertain situation in the country.
Kandy players were hard at training in Nittawela for the last three days while the Colombo outfit, too, did their training in Colombo. The touring squad of 30 players will be named on 29 April.
After the Malaysian leg, the Sri Lankan outfit will train for the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 in Taipei. This will take place during the last week of May. Sri Lanka, Taipei, Singapore and Philippines will lock horns in the four-team event where Sri Lanka will face Philippines in the opening game. The touring squad will consist of 25 players to Taipei.
New Zealander Matt Lee will be the Head Coach with Fazil Marija and Viraj Prasanna assisting him on tour.
