Thulaib Hassen led Royal in a magnificent performance at the Reid Avenue to score a bonus point win over Joes by 24/17, retaining the Singer League for yet another year, securing three wins in a row for the Royal outfit. 

At the short breather Royal led 14/10.

The Peterites had to settle for second place and the Joes third place in the league. Royal hooker Rajindu Jaysundera, who had a grand game, scored the opening try with Dulan Gunawardena adding the extras. Yasas Rashmika scored the second with Dulan on target to take the home team to a comfortable 14 to nothing lead. Joes hit back on the stroke of half time through Gestron Thanghai’s touchdown. Santhush Algama was on target. Algama put over a penalty as well.

After the turnaround, Royal scored two more tries through Achintha Radeeshan and Rajindu Jayasundera who scored the bonus point try. The Joes’ second half try was scored by Rashen Gunawardena. Royal lost out only to St. Peter’s in the season while the Peterites who ended as number two lost out to the Thomians in their opening encounter.
