TTSC Badminton C’ships on 17 Sept.

The 22nd Travel Trade Sports Club Badminton Championships 2017, sponsored by Serendib Leisure Hotels for the seventh successive year, will be held on Sunday, 17 September at the S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia Indoor Stadium, commencing at 9.00 a.m. 

Entries have been called from the 160-strong TTSC membership to be forwarded to the TTSC General Secretary Anushka Perera c/o Connaissance de Ceylan ‘Le Cube’, 130 High Level Road, Kirulapone, Colombo 6. Entries will close on 14 September at 3.00 p.m.

The tournament will be conducted in two categories, the Open and Veterans (Men Over-40 and Women Over-35) segments on a team championship basis. 

The Open segment will consist of one men’s singles match, one men’s doubles match, one women’s singles match, one women’s doubles match and one mixed doubles match. The Veterans category will consist of one men’s singles match, one women’s singles match and one mixed doubles match. 

In the previous tournament held on 4 September 2016 at the same venue, Walkers Tours won the Open category by beating Cinnamon Grand Colombo ‘B’ 3-1 in the final. The Veterans segment was won by SriLankan Airlines, who beat Walkers Tours 2-0 in the final. 

This will be the fifth event on the TTSC multi-sports event calendar after bowling, archery, pool and Futsal five-a-side football were completed.
