Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera Thilakaratne took a match bag of 13 wickets to bowl Tamil Union to an innings win over Badureliya SC

(35) who put on a priceless 61 runs saw them gain valuable first innings points from CCC to retain their position as Major Club Emerging three-day tournament Group A leaders in their match which ended in a draw at CCC grounds yesterday. In reply to CCC’s total of 241, Moors SC slid to 209-8 before they were rescued.

In a crucial Group B clash, Negombo CC took first innings points from NCC to come within two points of the leaders with a game in hand.

Dilum Sudeera Thilakaratne, the former 21-year-old left-arm spinner from Karandeniya Central College and Richmond College, took a match bag of 13 wickets for 81 runs including 8 for 21 in the second innings to rout Badureliya SC for 60 and bring Tamil Union an emphatic innings win.

Former St. Aloysius’ College right-arm medium-fast bowler 21-year-old Kavindu Dilhara took a match bag of nine wickets for 63 to give Galle a win by 235 runs over Kalutara TC.

Saracens SC lifted themselves from the bottom of Group B with their first win of the tournament defeating Kurunegala YCC by 198 runs at the Welagedera Stadium. SSC, Sebastianites, Tamil Union, Ragama CC and Army SC also ran out winners in their respective matches. (ST)
